SPORT FIGHTING IS NOT REAL SELF DEFENSE.

We are a school of both the combative and healing sides of the Martial Arts.
 
Combat Kumite (kumite = sparring) is a component that can be utilized to learn certain aspects of Martial Arts. It will teach you speed, timing, moving your body, learning to take hits, as well as learning to hit full speed. All of this within the confines of rules and gear protection. It is not 'REAL' self defense as Ryukyu Kempo or Jujitsu techniques are, but the aspects you learn are still there.  Remember that in a real fight there is one consistent rule: stay alive.

In regular class, working these techniques in a very controlled manner is part of the progress.  However, with these techniques one cannot hit them at full speed/force repeatedly without harming his/her partner.

     
In Kumite, we work everything in a controlled manner and in steps.  One starts with a variation of defense and counter drillers.  Eventually moving toward working sticking techniques.  Then at a certain level of time will put on the gear and work kumite utilizing all elements of fighting from stand up to on the ground.
